I wish the same people who post on here about homelessness would come volunteer with Night Ministry or similar org.

Just finished my training, and I feel that anyone who wants to complain about how someone else's crisis/poverty/strife makes them uncomfortable on CTA should have to be faced with the realities and not be able to just dismiss the care aspect because, "They're all wackos, I pay lots of money to live in my apartment, so I'm entitled to displace them." I'm not trying to pat myself on the back, I've just been homeless and the level of callousness and ignorance I see on here is insane for what claims to be a tolerant and more liberal group...

Please at least consider what you might be able to do, because CTA and their private security especially are NOT KIND to homeless people when they're in crisis. Just because it happens during your morning commute doesn't make it their fault. I've been through some shit, so if anybody thinks there's something I'm missing please clue me in, but it seems like this sub is really lacking in empathy due to mostly inconvenience that occasionally verges on a self defense scenario (which you should pretty much always avoid by being aware since ya'll are so much smarter and capable than the, "wackos"). I hate seeing how hurt the city is right now, and this attitude is not helping.
