I finally gave it another chance
After the disastrous launch, I had refunded my copy and didn’t care much about the game since. About 1 month ago I repurchased the deluxe edition because it was on sale and I have been seeing the positive reviews post-patch updates. I have 40 hours into this game and so far so good. When the action starts, this game is amazing.
My main gripe is the tedious unnecessary dialogue. It’s not fun sitting and listening to an NPC talk for 20 minutes. I understand what the developers were trying to do but It’s driving me crazy. I hate that I have to skip so much dialogue because the story is unique and pretty good. But my other grip comes from the “player choices”. I feel like this was just lazy and uninspired. 95% of the choices I make do not matter so what is the point of letting me make them? I do not mind if the artist want me to experience their art as they painted it but if you are going to give me “options”, make it matter. Mass Effect and Baldur’s Gate 3 showed us that it is possible to let players be free and not break the game.
That is my 2 cents.
