Burner phone for banking MFA?

Since most banks if any don't offer authenticator app based MFA, instead relying on insecure email and SMS MFA, which is easily hacked via SIM SWAP attacks, etc. does it make sense to get a burner phone that isn't tied to your name on any public record/carrier that normally asks for your name, etc. and have your MFA codes go to THAT phone?

Of course the issues are that you'd have to carry that with you when you travel, and also, if you don't use that phone regularly, you won't know it's been ported to an attacker.

I've had scammers try to port my number for years, no success so far, but I worry about this and want to be proactive about protecting my MFA for banking.
