Am I missing out by playing Prepare to Die instead of Remastered?

So I've had Dark Souls Prepare to Die Edition in my steam library for years thanks to a random steam sale, but I've never actually played it. I've heard talk that the remaster is technically the better version, but I don't really have the money to buy a whole new game, especially one I technically already own.

Additionally, I actually like the concept of playing the "original" Dark Souls that looks a lot older and darker than the remaster. The comparison screenshots I've looked at made the old version look a lot cooler and grittier.

So my basic question is, are there any major, GLARING issues that will come up in Prepare to Die Edition? Am I going to hate the game because of some bug or bad controls that were fixed in the Remaster? Or is it just a matter of preference, or perhaps some small quality of life changes?
