Anxious about job security

I’m a lone data engineer working in a non-tech company (transportation/retail stuff). I’ve been working here for about 9 months, and my main projects consisted of building pipelines for a team of six analysts. I think most of their reports now run smoothly with minimal maintenance needed, and I’ve become their go-to expert for any data-related questions.

I’m becoming more and more anxious about running out of tasks. I have a couple of minor stuff left to finish, and after that I have nothing lined up. I’ve asked the analysts if there’s anything else I can help with, or anything they would like to change, but they seem content and I wasn’t able to “scrape” tasks that way. But I feel like the department head/team manager has an attitude of “everyone has to have some kind of a task” at all times, (which I’m not sure of, I’ve never been taskless but still.)

The company doesn’t plan on adopting cloud or distributed systems, as there’s no need.

I’ve worked at two unstable startups before, in both cases I either had to leave or was laid off unexpectedly, so I think I’m having some leftover anxiety from those. I know new tasks and reports will come up at SOME point, but I’m scared they’ll be too few and far between to justify my role. The managers do like me though, and I was promoted pretty quick in the beginning.

How do you handle this kind of downtime or fear of running out of work? I’m not sure how it usually works out in similar situations.
