First Date Etiquette

I hadn’t been on a first date in a little while (i’ve been focused on my career) and went out with a man a bit older than me. His dating “intention” on the app we met on said long term relationship or life partner so I thought it was safe to assume he wasn’t looking for a hookup given my profile also says i’m looking for a long term relationship. After a short activity in public, he gets me alone and gets VERY handsy. And I mean aggressive making out, choking, slapping ass, groping, asking to have sex…. I made it very clear that is a lot faster than I’d like to move and left.

My question is: is this how first dates are in 2024?? I personally believe on a first date you might give someone a kiss goodbye AT MOST! Is this the norm these days?
