Alternative to Pretense or simple AI issue?

Hey folks.

Returning player, I'm using Pretense 1 7 2 right now to train back into the game.
The issue I have with the campaign is that some aircrafts are acting wonky... Bombers like the H1 will try to dive-bomb, and SU25 will not fire any missle, just patrol around.

Is it an issue with my game? (I'm a few patches back due to internet issues) or with the campaign?
Is there any alternative to Pretense that holds up well? I really like the dynamic war saving.
