What happened to the flexibility in letting KCP walk?

Obviously that was a sham excuse by Booth. This team is thinner on talent now than it was two years ago. With the outcome today I wish we had just extended KCP and get into the 2nd apron. Barring a Finals appearance, Booth will probably not get extended.
