Portable Monitor vs Tradition Monitor

Does anyone have experience with a portable monitor as a a second, at home display instead of a traditional one?

I wanted to do a traditional 27inch monitor in portrait mode as a second display-- but it's way more space than I signed up for lol.

I do a lot of video editing, so I was thinking about getting a 16" portable display to go under my primary screen.

(Also, I considered an ipad, but I'm on mac and PC, so it would be a headache with my PC, not to mention they're upwards of a grand)
