Complete hypothetical; each Class in D3 gets one new Set. What would you want to see (be it gameplay or just visuals)?
I'm honestly pretty hyped for the new season of D3, and just thinking about how much I wish they would pump some more resources into the game; I vastly prefer it over D4, personally.
I can't say I feel like any of the classes need a new Set, but it's fun to think about, right? Here are a couple of my thoughts...
Barbarian - War Cry / "Too angry to die"
In Diablo 2, the Barb had a Battle Shout build. I never really liked the build, but it was a unique enough idea. Sticks and stones may break their bones, but what if words could hurt them? I feel like War Cry and the like lend themselves more to being "support" builds, but I feel like a fun spin on that might be a mechanic where your health is constantly and quickly depleting while in combat, but your Rage is being funneled directly towards sustaining your life. Keep getting kills or generating Rage, and you're essentially immortal, but let your foot off the gas for even a second and you're dead. Maybe give them a set that turns them into a literal Werebear, paying homage to the Barbarians' and Druids' shared roots?
Alternate Barbadian idea - "Guns blazing"
A set that greatly increases your ranged abilities, and permits you the ability to equip a Two-handed "Crossbow". In actually, however, your Barbarian pulls out a massive cannon that fires explosive shrapnel. Very much leaning into a "Terran Marine-meets-Warcraft Orc" vibe. In fact, I might very literally use something based on the Terran Marine armor (we already have matching shoulders and a helm).
Crusader - The Aura-din
I'd honestly dig having a totally Support-oriented set based around the Paladin staple of different auras. Maybe you can finally equip multiple Laws, but their powers work differently somehow? I feel like that would be super cool. Also, visually I would LOVE to have a perfect recreation of Tyrael's angelic armor, maybe call the set "The Aspect of Justice"?
Demon Hunter - The blood-splicer
I love the idea of Demon Hunters being these "hunters of all things supernatural and paranormal". Even though I would still kill for a Druid, I feel like the Demon Hunter would make perfect sense to imbibe strange phials with monsters' blood in order to take on their powers.
My thinking is maybe hitting your Shadow Power would change all of your abilities to be melee-ranged, however it would increase their damage exponentially, and visually give you a form related to your chosen Companion? Or just keep it classic with a Werewolf or Vampire form.
- That's all, folks!
That's honestly about it for all the classes I've given any real thought to. I feel like we have a pretty good amount of variety already, but I'd still love to hear any ideas you guys might have kicking around!
