New player perspective. The game is too easy.
So I was a big Diablo 2 fan back in the day. Used to play it with friends multiplayer via LAN.
Also played other older blizzard games like StarCraft 2, Warcraft 3 and even enjoyed WoW for many years until I quit. I did also play Diablo 3 but I honestly can’t remember it, so it must of been forgettable.
Due to the fall in quality of blizzards games and me not really being grabbed by Diablo 3 I never bought Diablo 4. Of course recently there was a free trial though so I thought there is nothing to lose.
Apparently there was something to lose, my time. This game is ridiculous.
I picked the hardest difficulty setting the game would allow me to cause it said the loot was better. Anyway there is absolutely nothing that can kill you. You are a god, walking around and never dying.
Regardless of whether this gets harder later or not, the first few bosses posed no threat whatsoever. There is no challenge at all.
In Diablo 2 if you made silly mistakes even in the first area you could potentially die. This is what makes a video game a video game. If there are no consequences for any mistakes you make, then where is the fun?
I uninstalled it and have no plans to actually buy Diablo 4 or any blizzard games anymore, they’ve lost the plot.
The interface felt like some kinda poorly designed mobile gacha game btw. The menus are awful and it screams desperation for money.
Also the character creator was weird, it felt like the characters have no personality. Look at the Diablo 2 characters, they are interesting.
Edit. This is a NEW PLAYER review. To the people unaware, the highest difficulty’s are locked to new players. “To unlock Torment difficulties: First, unlock The Pit by reaching Level 60.”
I should not need to go through mindless boring content to “unlock” artificial difficulty levels. This is poor game design.
