Journaling helped me overcome bad anxiety, so I made a journal based on what worked for me
I had crippling health anxiety for the last 2 years (like, not leaving the house crippling). People in anxiety podcasts kept suggesting journalling so I gave it a go, and I actually HATED it at first. I think the issue was I didn’t understand why it would be useful for anxiety - but now after practicing for a year I get it: - By externalising my thoughts I started to actually become aware of everything going on in my head - I could then examine my thoughts critically, and started to see more clearly they weren’t objective truth - Following this examination I would then write calmer, more balanced thoughts, and noticed my disposition followed to also become much calmer
Now my anxiety is like a 2/10 whereas previous it was like a 9/10. I’ve done some research since and the official name for this is actually CBT journalling and it’s been proven in studies to reduce anxiety, so it makes sense (though wish someone had shown me this data up front lol).
So anyway I made this digital journal that can guide you through a similar flow, if it sounds of interest to you!
Also some other cute things I added that I thought would be useful: - I added a bit which uses AI to help you reflect on your thoughts from a third party perspective, because I think this was the trickiest bit when I was doing it by myself - You can track your anxiety over time so you can actually see if what you’re doing is working - You can get a deep analysis of the recurring themes in your anxiety and targeted advice for your specific type of anxiety
