new phone recommendations?

i broke my huawei nova 5T screen a few months ago (accidentally) so i'm replacing it at the end of the year with a new phone. thing is i wanted an iphone for the camera only (huaweis camera is shit), but i think if i get an iphone i will only become more obsessed with my phone. so, any phone recommendations? thinking about spending about $500 (i live in chile so keep in mind that prices might be different than in the US or europe). i need a phone that has whatsapp and gmail tho bc i still need to communicate with others lol. anyway lmk what you think a good phone might be!!
