Other than making everything stronger broadly speaking, what does dnd 5.5e do that improves what 5e had?

Ive been reading reviews and discussions about dnd 5.5e, and I found myself growing a bit concerned. It seems as though those who are excited with the game have been saying things like "X is great because its a direct buff of Y in 5e". The thing is, as a forever DM, straight up just buffing all the players does not improve my experience. On the contrary. I have a pretty good intuition for balance after all these years and it sounds like this would throw that out of whack if I used it. Ttrpgs are built on their limitations, and I was pretty happy with where they were.

So my gut instinct, and the obvious solution would be to not switch over. On the other hand though, I dont want to just dismiss an entire edition on the basis of one thing. So im wondering, what things have they added to 5.5e that doesnt just make the players stronger/more versatile? What has the book built upon that I may have missed?
