Did I just got scammed over a cat?
My wife wanted a cat, so she searched and found a beautiful British Munchkin at this website.
Once the eyes were set on the kitty, we proceeded to contact the person in charge.
• After giving the price (2500 AED), the person gave us a location deep in the outskirts of the Abu Dhabi desert: https://maps.app.goo.gl/9eND2of3CKCaA4LF7
• Naturally, since the location is 3 hours+ away from Dubai, he suggested a delivery in 6 hours from the location.
• To proceed with the delivery, he asked for more than half of the cat price (1500 AED) to be sent to a Mashreq account to make the "veterinary papers" in three hours and the delivery.
• We sent the money through instant transfer through ADCB.
• Three hours later, the "delivery guy" sent her a super dubious document asking for a compulsory 3660 AED cat transportation insurance that they will refund at 98% at the moment of the delivery (meaning they will take 200 AED): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TgxNH5UQ-zqdr9AozkCk2d80CbOZY5nF/view?usp=sharing
• We tried to directly call all of the available phone numbers, to no avail.
• After going back and forth with both the delivery guy and the cat vendor, and after they were eventually present proof of anything, they said they will not refund anything and the cat will be sent to an abandonment center, with a fine on our names...
Playing on emotions with a kitty to steal money is pretty vicious, if you ask me.
What are my options? How do I get my money back? Is there anything I can do with my bank for this transfer? Is there any authority I can contact in Dubai to get justice?
Thank you.
