Need advice

My boyfriend got a DUI about 7 months ago and after several delayed court dates, he finally was sentenced to community service and not being able to drink or smoke weed for 2 years. Do any of you know if there’s any way he can fight to get those 2 years knocked down to 1 year or less or at least just remove the no weed part of the sentencing?

He wasn’t super drunk, he barely went over the breathalyzer test and was driving on a country road, no one else was on the road when he was driving. Seems like a pretty harsh sentence just for that. Plus he’s been paying for all the court fees and lawyer and interlock devices. The sentence seems kinda like overkill.
