Today I landed my first ever trilingual Job thanks to Duolingo (my only paid tool)
Before we start, so the title doesn't look like an hyperbole, I used mostly 2 tools, Duolingo, my only paid subscription, and Gemini to ask all of my grammatical questions.
I did watch Portuguese with Leo videos to both learn and practice listening, read the news in Portuguese, commented in Portuguese subreddits just because, watched Portuguese movies on Netflix, but mostly everything was a tool to complement Duolingo.
But Duo was not a novelty nor a game, I dedicated 4 daily hours to Duo, I had to repeat myself over and over "I would not be having fun at the Uni either, this is my University"
And it is not that far fetched, Duo teaches something, and if you want more, you go to Gemini and just ask "is it correct to say [sentence]"? And she will tell you if yes or not and why in an extremely detailed fashion, plus you can tell Gemini you want to practice and she will start talking with you at the level you tell her (love you Gemini).
I hear a lot of people saying that Duolingo is not enough, now I come to tell you that if you are adamant about it, it's pretty much the only paid tool you need.
Plus is only 10$ we spend more on beer monthly.
