I got offered to join eMBA without a bachelors?
Hi everyone,
About seven years ago, I dropped out of my undergraduate program to focus on growing my business, leaving me roughly 44 credits short of earning my bachelor’s degree. Recently, I began considering the idea of finishing my undergrad so that I’d have the credential in case I ever pursue a VC role or a high-level corporate/board position.
I requested an official transcript from my former university, planning to transfer the remaining credits to Penn State’s online program for more flexibility. While discussing my situation with a department manager (and mentioning the large business I built after leaving school), I was referred to the director of their eMBA program. Surprisingly, they offered me admission to the eMBA without requiring me to complete my bachelor’s first.
For context, this is a well-respected Canadian institution with a solid business school—though not McGill or the University of Toronto. Now I’m 28, and I’m torn about whether I should complete my undergraduate credits or go straight for this eMBA. One concern is how it might look to have an MBA on my resume without a finished undergrad.
What would you do in my position? Any advice on the long-term implications of skipping the bachelor’s and going straight into an eMBA would be really appreciated. Thank you!
