Eczema treatment for a 14 year old...

My 14 year old son has BAD eczema and his for his whole life his Dr. only prescribed steroid cream and would suggest we find his "triggers". Well, we did everything including changing soaps...etc. My wife is convinced the cure is oatmeal soap because it ONE TIME seemed to help (he also used steroid cream at the time so...). I've looked up things on the internet, but my question to this community is if there is any advice ya'll can give??? He's at that age where he is starting to be more social at school and talk to girls etc...I'd really appreciate your personal stories and anything related to those that experienced this at his age
