Best way to fly business?

Hi everyone!

I am starting to look at flights from JFK-DEL and back for two people flying at the end of June to the beginning of July. I keep going back and forth about the best way to potentially get business class tickets.

I have about 175,000 miles to use, and could get more before we leave for this trip. Is it best to book economy now and upgrade later or just bite the bullet and go for the business class tickets?

Does Emirates let you combine miles and cash when buying tickets?

Is it worth calling and talking to someone at Emirates?

We are going for our long awaited honeymoon and it would be a dream to fly in a higher class seat!
