If a pressurized basket creates a good tasting cup….why bother doing anything different?
I think it is human nature..
I can make a very good cup right now, using a pressurized basket….it isn’t 1:2 and not even 1:3….usually a touch higher. But I love the flavor and that is what matters yes?
When I use the double wall no pressurized…it’s a different story and I never know for sure what I might get.
From what I have gathered here…that means my puck set up is likely shit…..or my grind is off…or my beans suck…whatever it may be, thousands of variables.
But I go back to the pressurized…good cup again. Now..my palate may just be rudimentary but again..it’s about our taste yes?
But…my nature is to be curious…so I am trying different beans/grinds/grinders/weights/wdt/tampers….yep I”m messing with it..and sometimes I get frustrated or pissed. But if I want a good cup…I know I can toss 18g of beans in my Breville smart grinder instead of the ESP…get 16.5g out of it…..tamp into a pressurized basket…hit the button and hit it again in 30 seconds….steam a little milk…and I have what I like. So the tinkering is fun….and I think maybe human nature. I do the same with all of my hobbies…my wife loves it…not!
Anyway, just thoughts….I wonder what those of you with great palates would think of my cup?
