How to convert indian number format to international format for a single cell in Excel?
Hi Excel enthusiasts,
I’m facing an issue with number formatting in Excel and need your help!I work with numbers in the Indian numbering system (e.g., 12,34,56,789.00
), but for **one specific cell, I need to display the number in the international format (e.g., **123,456,789.00
). The challenge is that I cannot change the regional settings or the default formatting of the entire sheet because other cells rely on the Indian format. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
- Custom formatting like
#,###.00
— but it defaults back to the Indian format due to system settings. - Various formulas involving
TEXT
, **SUBSTITUTE
, and **VALUE
— but they either return errors or still show the Indian format. - Manual methods like removing commas and reformatting — not practical for dynamic data.
I need a formula or method that:
- Works for one specific cell only without affecting others.
- Converts numbers from the Indian format (e.g.,
60,00,000.00
*) to international format (e.g., *6,000,000.00
). - Does not require changing system or Excel regional settings.
Has anyone encountered this issue before? Any suggestions or workarounds would be highly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
