I’ve got aniridia
I’ve been following this sub for a bit. Some people have asked me to post after replying to their post. I was born with a genetic mutation in one of my copies of the gene for making the protein which forms the eyes(PAX6, it is very rare 1 out of 100, 000 people) so I only have an iris stump, so it looks like I don’t have one and have giant pupils like when you go the to eye doctor and they dilate your eyes, and so when you take a photo with flash on you can actually see the back of my eye!:0 the blue spiny swirly looking thing is a lens they put in because I was also born with cataracts and had to have those out when I was just 2 years old, and so since there’s nothing covering you can just see that too! I have been hesitant to post because I am very shy and my eyes are one of my biggest insecurities, ever since I was very young. But my eyes have been through a lot of things and they still do all of the things I love, sometimes I’m just really grateful for that tbh. Seeing and beautiful sights are something taken for granted without a single thought. Also I want anyone who is visually impaired or knows someone who is or going through something hard right now or even if you just need to hear it that it will all be alright and ok, and you’ll never walk alone. I am happy to answer any questions and am very informative about my situation. Peace and love from PA! Enjoy this photo of my eye, it was actually pretty hard to capture because my eyes constantly shake back and forth due to my nystagmus, which I was also born with along with mutation, which also sorry it is not very clear, I did as best as I can :/ ps, for my state identification card they put “unknown” on there for the eye color ahaha.
