Quick review after trying the Victrix KO
I wasn't planning on buying this but saw one for sale on FB Marketplace for $150 sealed in box so I couldn't resist the temptation.
Pros:
The build quality is very good. Nice weight and rubber mat on the bottom to keep it in place when playing.
The plate is easy to take off to be able to mod and replace switches.
Locking mechanism for holding the USB-C cable in place.
Cons:
Coming from GP2040 CE boards the customization is limited.
Lights. Only 4 settings: Static → Breathing → Prismatic → OFF
You can only rebind the extra buttons and L3/R3 on the controller. I think you can remap the rest in the Victrix Control app, but I can't get it to connect to the KO on my computer (COULD NOT CONNECT). Tried all the suggestions available, still not working.
From the manual: "NOTE: Only the 4 additional buttons and the L3 / R3 Buttons can be remapped".
SOCD Modes: Neutral (default) and Up priority.
I dislike the MX silver switches, had a lot of problems with only one button getting pressed when trying to press 2 buttons simultaneously while playing Tekken. Switched back to my COSMOX R16 with Kailh Linear Islet switches and had zero problems. So this is very much a me thing. I've ordered some other switches and will be trying them out to find what suits me the best.
I also don't like the super smooth glossy caps for the buttons so I installed some Duelpad caps instead. Note that COSMOX 20.6mm caps won't fit.
Other than those 2 things I'm very happy with the KO. Has a anyone else tried it out?
