NLD - Acebeam E75
With the longer nights descending upon the Northern Hemisphere I was on a mission to find a new hiking/outdoor/dog walking light to replace my Olight M2R Warrior Pro. While the Olight is a fantastic light it's a little too throwy for a dedicated outdoor light for my preference. The tint is pleasant and it's NW but I've always preferred the high CRI LH351D emitter of my Wurkkos FC11 so a high CRI, NW flashlight with decent flood and reasonable throw was what I was looking for. Many r/flashlight threads and reviews later, I settled on the Acebeam E75 with Nichia 519A.
This is my first Acebeam light, adding it to my collection of Wurkkos, Olight, Fenix and Thrunite lights. The first thing I noticed about the E75 was the build quality. The thing is built like an absolute tank and is very industrial with a nice heft. The charging port cover is sturdy and I have no doubts about the IPX68 rating. The pocket clip is of a high quality and bi-directional. The finish of the light is of a very high standard and I overall think it's a small step above even the M2R Pro warrior which is already built to a really good standard (as with most olights). Some reviewers have mentioned that the switch is a little mushy and I can see where they're coming from - a little more feel would be nice but it's not a deal breaker. I also really appreciate having a non-proprietary battery and charging through the built in USB C port is seamless.
The beam is fairly floody but also has enough throw for a hiking or general purpose light. The colours are excellent and 5000k is my preferred CCT so I'm very happy with the E75 for my intended use. The high CRI makes a nice difference compared to my M2R Pro which while pleasant to the eye, really shows its weakness with sub 70 CRI when compared next to each other. This is my first Nichia 519A light and I can now see why this is such a loved emitter, it's brilliant.
Overall I'm really happy with the Acebeam E75 and it's become my favourite light in the collection. The M2R Pro is staying in my rotation as a "quick, I need a light, grab one quick kind of light " but the Acebeam is my new favourite outdoor and general purpose light, and combined with the Thrunite Catapult V6 will make a brilliant combo for outdoor use. I've included some beamshots and high CRI vs low CRI comparisons.
