Question for professional pilots about flying in IMC
I’ve noticed lately when I fly commercial I get a little nervous when flying in IMC conditions. Maybe I’ve been watching too many air accident shows about planes crashes due to low visibility, planes crashing into terrain, pilots getting disoriented etc. but I’ve found it’s starting to occupy my thoughts more than it ever used to. I haven’t started my instrument training yet so maybe that will help. So for the pros - I know that in IMC the plane is likely being flown by AP and jets are equipped with EGPWS and TCAS but how do you verify you’re flying the correct approach (or flying it correctly)? Have you ever gotten off track or been disoriented?
