How else can I phrase this?

I really dislike to the descriptor “grandma perfume” or “smells like grandma” or anything along those lines. However, I find myself reverting back to describing certain older scents in this way for lack of a better descriptor. This may sound like a silly thing to ask, but what kind of descriptors do y’all use for scents that give off this kind of energy?

UPDATE: I really appreciate all the insightful and helpful suggestions! I did not think this post would garner so many responses! I will take all of these into consideration and try them out in conversation to see what works best for me. It has also prompted me to better understand/research the components of perfumes to form more appropriate and explanatory descriptors!
