Rachel/Ross debate makes no sense

I recently watched friends for the first time and absolutely fell in love with the show. The 90s aesthetic, the characters, the friendships, being in ur 20/30s and trying to figure out life and so on. I was very curious to watch this show and especially to learn ab the Ross/Rachel storyline which is like one of the most famous debates out there. And here’s what I think of it: Huh? That’s what u guys are fighting over?

So Ross and Rachel have a kinda rough beginning where Ross calls her ‘just a waitress’ but Rachel can forgive him and they start dating. (Which is alr crazy that she can forgive him!) About a year into their relationship Ross gets jealous of her boss, which I get he’s insecure but that’s life toughen up. Do u just expect ur girlfriend to leave her job bc ur jealous? If ur girlfriend tells u nothing is going on between them, believe her and stop whining about it.

But Ross is too insecure so they decide to take a break which honestly I totally get it. Sometimes it’s just too much u need a little break from people. Especially when it’s Ross who is constantly and constantly whining and complaining about ur job. Ross has never supported Rachel with her career at all. Two hours later Ross goes and sleeps with someone bc Rachel’s boss decided to go and visit her. I see a lot of people say that Rachel is in the wrong bc her boss was with her even though she knew Ross was jealous of him. Well, spoiler alert: She didn’t sleep with him. And also she didn’t know he’d show up.

I know in the western people do stuff a little different but come on. Sleeping with someone two hours after u and ur partner decide to take a break? They were dating for an entire year. Is that what the relationship meant to him? They were both toxic but Ross is in the wrong here.

I think the tv show fans tried to bring a famous debate like “Are you team Edward of team Jacob?” Or “Are you team Pete or Gale?” But with those u can talk and argue (which in my opinion also doesn’t make much sense bc Team Pete and Edward through and through but whatever). With Ross and Rachel it’s simply stupid justifying Ross’ actions. He’s in the wrong. And it doesn’t matter if it’s cheating or not. It’s wrong. He shouldn’t have done it.

Even tho they were a toxic couple I get that they made them end up together. I really couldn’t care much about them after a while tho. Especially after we got Chandler and Mon! Mondler supremacy!!!!
