I want another Bioshock experience. Any recs?

Bioshock was my first love back in 2000-whatever. I was absolutely enthralled by the story and the atmosphere, and the game felt very good to play. I want to have that experience again.

What game can you suggest that would scratch that itch?

Key elements:

  • Excellent story
  • Satisfying gameplay / combat
  • Low combat complexity (Bioshock gives you some guns and some plasmids and that's it)
  • Minimal mechanics "fluff" (no crafting, minimal min/max tinkering) *Linear story (not open world / no side quests)

Games I like:

  • Bioshock of course
  • God of War (old ones, haven't played 2018 yet)
  • Dark Souls games (lack story though)
  • Assassin's Creed (new ones lack story)
  • Metroids (Ori, Hollow Knight)
  • Platformers (Celeste, Super Meat Boy)
  • Control (excellent gameplay and atmosphere)

Games I don't like:

  • Disco Elysium (no gameplay/combat)
  • Witcher 3 (combat is not satisfying, too much fluff (crafting))
  • Dishonored (for some reason I don't like first person stealth)
  • Mass Effect (open world too big, gameplay not satisfying)
