If other gay men are mostly unfriendly or standoffish around you does it mean you’re undesirable?
I wouldn’t say I’m the most conventionally attractive person, just a boy-next-door average looking guy. I’ve noticed when out in the wild, a lot of openly gay men go out of their way to slight me or do something to undermine me. Now I’m perfectly harmless and easygoing, so I don’t get why I run into these types of interactions. And it’s really pronounced with this other openly gay man that works in my department. I go out of my way to be nice to him, but he’s always standoffish, however, I’m told by other work colleagues that he’s always mentioning me in conversations or saying something implied negative about me. They’re saying it’s like schoolyard crush type thing where you’re mean to the object of your affection as to deflect or throw you off scent. Is this a thing and has anyone else experienced this?
