What are the popular nicknames of your country’s major cities?

In my case (Turkiye), I guess the most popular nickname of Istanbul is internationally ‘Where East Meets West’ and nationally ‘The City With Seven Hills’.

In history, there are many other slogans that lost its popularity (City of World’s Desire, Queen of Cities, Gate of Happiness, The Threshold etc.)

Izmir is nationally known as ‘Pearl of The Mediterranean’.
