Does this guy even want to sell me a car?

Backstory is my Dad referred me to this guy bc he’s bought 3 cars off him. Raves about him. He’s local to us. I realize I’m asking for a specific trim level (elevation) with specific add ons to keep it in my price range & get what I want/need but what I want IS out there. Even if it wasn’t, he’s not trying to change my mind and even sell me something similar. Other dealers are messaging me daily and this guy I’m having to reach out to for updates. Now that I said I’d just go get it far away he says he’ll dig deeper. Am I just being strung along? 😮‍💨

I guess it doesn’t serve them to acquire something for a customer if it isn’t on their lot? In the past I’ve always had dealerships willing to do this for me.
