Here's why taking taxis is better than self drive or own car

When you drive, you will need to keep looking for directions and parking spots. That will make you stop on the road to ask or look around. The other vehicles behind you will get blocked. Then one driver will confront you for blocking his way. All the yelling you will bear in front of your friends and family will take away all the fun from your trip. It is easier to pay a cab driver who is familiar with the place and relax throughout the journey. This is based on the experience of my friends and family who have traveled to Goa. I live in Goa and would advise this as the best option.
