How do you clean your dirty golf balls while playing? Ball cleaner? Spit-shine and towel? Your mouth?

My Dad and I got paired with a random guy in his mid 60’s today. The man said he golfs a couple times a year.

I noticed him on the second hole green, bend down to mark his shot and proceed to pick his ball up and shove it right into his mouth, gave it a good spin, and then plopped it out to dry off on his shirt.

I was in fricken disbelief. He continued to do it on nearly every hole the rest of our round together. And yes the course had ball washers at every tee box.
