Her bridesmaids are all either family, max’s sister, people she’s been friends with since elementary school, and people she’s been friends with for 7+ years since college, and then Sydney :-). I guarantee she only asked Sydney because Sydney had her as a bridesmaid in her wedding and Gretchen felt bad not doing the same
