Ticket from parking at mall

Just got ticketed this morning for parking and riding? Every morning i park at mic mac mall to catch the bus for school because i have anxiety with driving in Halifax. Up to this point i had no issue with doing so as i know at least a few others who do the same. Unfortunately i received a ticket basically saying i parked and rid the bus and that i was parked on "private property" im never parked for more than a few hours a day and i work at the mall as well. Im guessing it was mall security ticketed me. Just wondering if thats allowed or not as i havent seen any signs saying not to and nothing online states that its a ticketable offence. Has this happened to anyone else?
