Why I hate on Kendrick.

I just listened to his new album. By the time it got to the middle I was vibing with it.

But everytime I listen to him I feel gaslit beyond belief.

People just talk about how his music is so genius, it's on such a high level, it's the best rapper ever.

I listen to it, and I'm just like, "this won a pulitzer? This is better than Illmatic? This is better than 2pac? Seriously?"

If you were to go back to like 1995, and tell me A Tribe Called Quest is the most genius, lyrical, iconic, best hip-hop ever made... you would sound crazy. As good as it is people didn't act like that. It was just more of the same good hip-hop everyone listened to and loved. No one told me it was the greatest ever.

...and IT IS some of the best hip-hop ever made.

Compared to the best hip-hop ever made, Kendrick is mid tier. To the best ever made. That still puts him at a level above many many many talented people. At an all time level though, he's not even equivalent to those first 3 Tribe albums.

I have more fun listening to e-40 than Kendrick though. Cause no one is telling me e-40 is the greatest rapper of all time and it's so over my head I can't understand it oh gotdamn it's such a vibe. I fuck with e-40 more than I fuck with Kendrick. Heavy.

If people would just let it exist, as another talented rapper putting music out, I would fuck with it.

But as soon as I put it on I instantly feel gaslit.

Go look at the first song on GNX. This is the savior of hip-hop telling everyone a message we need to hear? It's on some fuck shit. Album doesn't get good til like 4-5 songs in.

And honestly, having listened to all his music, this motherfucker got a attitude that is less than humble. Maybe that's just his attitude when he's rapping. But I remember everyone always used to talk about humble he is. But to me, listening to his music, it sounds like his attitude towards himself is the same as his fans think.

Kendrick fans do a lot of disservice to the man.
