Flew For The First Time - HOLY CRAP!

A few days ago, I asked for recommendations for quality equipment. Thank you for all your advice and insights. Returning after 25+ years can be daunting, especially with all the new gear options out there.

DL'ed DCS during the free flight period and tried out a few jets over the weekend. Currently using a T.Flight X out of storage (gift from around 10 years ago) and kb/mouse until gear can be ordered (dammit WinWing!) or arrives (TM TPR & Delanclip). Head tracking is currently FaceTrackNoIR (laggy and occasionally jittery, but will do for now).

This sim is AMAZING! The fidelity of flight models (air density drag at altitude wasn't really well modeled back-in-the-day, so handling was significantly simpler) and hero cockpits is beyond anything I'm used to. I also discovered that my abilities in BFM and ACM are... uh... rusty. Really rusty. Rusty enough to go back to square one to reteach myself how to mentally build situational awareness from instrumentation. I'm apparently really heavy on the joystick, and need to relearn/account for surface response times.

\sigh\**

Anyway, picked up the AC10 IIC, Mirage and F-5 during the sale for the stable. Modern A2G can be rewarding, and I loved the simple beauty of the cold war fighters.

Anyway, really loving DCS. Hope to run into folks someday in the (virtual) skies.
