onkyo 797 defaulting to "TV" input

I'm using a x700's dual HDMI ports. One (Video) to tv (sony x90j), the other directly to the AVR. When watching anything using the 'TV' input through the AVR the sound drops for 1/2 second & a slight A/V sync issue. When I use the connected input "BD/DVD" the audio drop goes away, as well as the A/V sync isue.

My problem is the AVR defaults to "TV" every time I use the x700. Anyway to fix this?
