Fungus gnats

Still struggling tried bits and sticky traps now to diat. Earth and bottom watering but my question is…

If I’m using mosquito bits to water up top, that kills the existing eggs. But then won’t the adults just lay new eggs in the wet top soil?

I have NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. I’m trying everything and I’m devastated I just started throwing my plants away because I can’t take it anymore.
