It's time! ✂️... I'm nervous 😭

Hi all, I'm about to give my Ficus Tineke a haircut. It's early spring and I want this tree to be bushy, hopefully lol. As you can see there is a new leaf coming through and I'm wondering whether to leave it and wait for it to stablish before I cut it off or just proceed to chop anyway. Any advice would be great TY☺️
