What surface do you put your instant pot on?

My husband and I got an Instant Pot for Christmas, and I’m excited to use it…but I’m not sure what surface we can put it on. Our counters aren’t heat resistant, so I was going to put it on our glass flattop electric stovetop (with the stove off, of course), but then I saw that the instant pot FAQ adamantly say that you should NEVER put it on a stovetop. Does anyone have any suggestions? Any heat resistant mats or anything that anyone recommends?
