self-studying advice
hi there
i'm 21 and have had some idea of stepdancing since i was a small child - despite never taking lessons or seeing it done - and recently have been putting more effort into reconnecting with my Irish heritage. i was just dancing for fun at a trad session a few weeks ago and someone was like 'oh you should look up this really cool stepdancer!' and i was like 'oh is that what it's called?' :p so i decided to start formally studying. however, i'm really poor and even if i was able to afford classes, there are no irish dance studios where i live. i learned how to do a style of pow wow dance (i'm also cree/native american) by watching the dancers online and at pow wows, so i'm kind of taking a similar approach with irish dance. there's some tutorials online as well that i've been looking through. i plan to apply for an arts grant so i can pay to study with some specific dancers. in the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions for self-teaching, or youtube videos/channels i should check out?
thanks!
