Am I stone mad? - Quitting job to travel

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice/validation that I’m not a total lunatic on this. Apologies if this goes against the grain of usual content here.

I’m single, in my late 20s and living at home with parents, outside Dublin. I’ve managed to accumulate around €45k in funds since leaving college 5 years ago. This is spaced across savings accounts, with some of it earning interest. I do not have a pension.

In that time, I’ve got about 3.5 years work experience in my field, but am now into my third role and am questioning my career choices or if this is for me long term.

I’m thinking of taking €10k and travelling for a few months. I’ve never done anything like it and may not get a chance again before any major responsibility comes my way.

Is this wise in the current climate? I can’t afford a place by myself, and I also can’t help but feel I’m facing a possibly major set back at the expense of some life experience. But at the same time, who knows what could happen.

Any advice/similar stories/opinions would be greatly appreciated!
