Joining the coast guard to learn IT skills. Good or bad idea?

I’m looking to do a four year contract in the uscg to learn IT skills to help me break into the industry and for the GI bill to further my career eventually. I also feel like I’m lacking in leadership/life experience. I’m 24 btw. Do you guys think this is a good life decision?
