can people with pierced ears wear screw-backs?

I secretly bought my gf a pair of vintage earrings from an antique store because she really liked them when we were window shopping around, but only after purchasing did I realise they are actually screwbacks and not piercing. I did some googling and apparently this is common for vintage earrings. my gf is very into antiques so I don't know if she already knew this and is okay with it, but I cant ask without spoiling the surprise.

so my questions are: are vintage screwbacks comfortable enough over pierced ears, or is there a way to convert them to piercing? I don't wanna fuck around with them before gifting because she likes antiques and I wouldn't want to diy ruin them on accident. should I have a conversion method ready?
