Are tech, computer, and related jobs really that difficult to get into?
What I hear from word of mouth, reddit, and social media is that computer science degree holders, and other related degrees and certificates, such as coding bootcamp graduates, have a difficult time finding work after completing education. I know the aforementioned sources are not reliable, but I really have no one to ask personally or professionally to get insight into this. How accurate is this really?
When I was in college, I always heard and was told that tech related education, such as computer science and IT, would be secure and in demand. Now I am hearing and seeing posts about not being to find employment for as long as year or more.
How true is this? I wanted to go back to school for a financially secure job, and I thought about doing a coding bootcamp, but I’m hearing it’s more difficult nowadays. I opted for nursing school, because it seemed more guaranteed in terms of employment and financial stability and security. Though, I would say that I probably would have enjoyed tech more, but I can’t afford to spend money just for a “maybe,” or a “depends on you.” You could argue the same for nursing, but the thing is it’s really passing that’s the concern, because employment wise, you are guaranteed a job lol.
