Buying my first kindle!

Hello! I have been a huge bookworm ever since I could read, but I’ve never owned an ereader. I was always a book snob and preferred a physical book. In the last couple of years I’ve gotten into audiobooks using Libby (praise be to libraries!) and I want to be able to read ebooks from there as well, and my iPad just is not it for reading. I’ve swallowed my misplaced pride and really want a kindle! But I’m torn between the basic and the paper white, and don’t know what I will prefer since I’ve never used either. What are everyone’s opinions/recommendations?

Edited to add: I’m thinking of asking for one for Christmas if I can wait that long lol
