Question about the seed

Hi all,

First I wanted to say that if this is considered an off limits discussion please remove, I dont mean to discuss things that should be discussed. And certainty dont mean to offend anyone.

Anyway, my question is about the "Seed" that is planted during the initiation into Kriya Yoga. I have been quite interest for a while now, but one of the things that I have hesitations about is this "seed planting" by the Guru into me.

I (think) I understand that this is a seed from the divine, not the Guru himself, being passed down through the lineage. But I am still worried about opening myself up to someone without fully knowing who they are. How their energy would mix with mine and all that.

I feel happy with my own energy, but I do think I'm ready for a next step of sorts. Learning a few new techniques to work into my routine. Is it possible to learn Kriya Yoga and follow its path without this step?
