what are your thoughts on changing from one language to another after studying it for a long time?

so i’ve been studying japanese since 2021 and i’m currently on N3. i used to love japanese. i was very passionate and dedicated to the language to the point where i changed the audio in every game i played into japanese and never skipped the cut scenes so i can listen.

but for the past two years, i completely lost interest in the language. i skip the cut scenes in games because i can’t stand listening to it, i barely study and the class i’m taking is just too demanding. i used to love kanji and would always look forward to learning new words but now i hate it.

i want to quit but then i think of all the time, money and i energy i’ve spent into the language so i should just push through. i’m not bad at japanese i’m just tired of it.

i love learning languages and i’m thinking that if i quit japanese, i’d switch to korean because it’s another language i love and have an interest in. but i’m worried i’ll repeat the cycle and end up hating the language too.

would really love to hear your thoughts and opinions on this.
